Our Future by Rebro – audio cassette release

“Our Future” LP is deeply steeped in the aesthetics of 90s boomer cinema: Terminator, Jean-Claude, Rambo, The Matrix, and The Fifth Element. All of this blockbusting nostalgia had a profound impact on Rebro’s immature mind, forging a sonic vision now pressed onto magnetic tape. He’s particularly drawn to techno and house, which is clearly evident throughout his work. This “early” sound is also present—that same raw, outsider sound, capturing the dusty warmth and grit perfectly suited for the cassette format. Korg, Roland, and VST plugins were all weaponized in the production to bridge the gap between hardware weight and digital landscapes.

Speaking about Rebro outside of the music context, Timur lives in Pavlodar, an industrial city on the banks of the Irtysh River. The cold, metallic, Siberian vibes likely derive from this isolated landscape, too. He has previously released on Wilofi, both as part of compilations (Outlaw VA) and as standalone releases. He has also released on Moscow’s Locked Radio (303VA) and on peri-style label.

This tape is a physical artifact of that relentless, uncompromising drive.
