Hey. Nicolas! When music came into your life? Are there any inspirators for that?

Music has always been a part of my life. Since childhood, i suppose, when i for the first time heard Daft Punk and they became my inspirators for sure.

Since early 90s Riga is one of the most influential centers of developing dance culture among the post-Soviet area. What do you think about the actual state of things in Latvia?

Although Latvia was kinda a pioneer in electronic music for USSR in the late 80s, nowadays it has quite poor scene, more and more clubs closing year by year. In my opinion, electronic music scene of Latvia was much better 3-4 years ago.

Some thoughts about the actual state of electronic music on post-Soviet area?

Talking about the post-Soviet area, among the other Baltic countries I can highlight such country as Lithuania.
Also Ukraine has a good level of underground and Moscow, by all means, is a leader in this sphere - there is always something interesting, including parties with the different foreign musicians.

You are a founder of RawCraft Music label. Let us know more about its conception?

RawCraft label appeared spontaneously, it’s like a test for me - i just want to see what will come of it. The main conception of label is house music (lo-fi, raw), though techno is not an exception too.

Five (raw) house tracks which inspire you now

Ross from friends - talk to me
Dj boring - Winona
Kedr Livanskiy - your name
Slim Hustla - night patrollin
Betonkust & palmbomen II - 24x33

Is there any story stuck in your memory which is connected with your music activity?

Ok, tell you the funniest one: it was in Riga during summer 2017 when DJ Boring came to play there. And suddenly he got very tired of questions about «lo-fi» house and of demands «to play some lo-fi house». He just crouched down with beer in his hand and cigarette in his mouth and started to explain that he doesn’t like such an inscription like «lo-fi», its all the same with house music. podcast

What are your plans for 2018?

This year I want to launch parties with Palmstructure label and to release the first vinyl record with VA on my label as far as possible.

Lo-fi only began to be recognized as a style of popular music in the 1990s. Harmonic distortion (or "analogue warmth") is sometimes wrongly suggested as a core feature of lo-fi music. Its aesthetic is actually defined by the inclusion of elements normally viewed as undesirable in professional contexts, such as misplayed notes, environmental interference, or phonographic imperfections (degraded audio signals, tape hiss, and so on). Only homeland music - raw sounding of house created by the russian producers

Lo-fi house (also referred to as outsider house) is a genre of electronic music combining elements of house music, techno and noise. The music is often rough-sounding and "lo-fi", in contrast to the "polished cleanliness" of other contemporary electronic music genres. The term "outsider dance" was first coined in 2012 by DJ Ben UFO and music journalist Scott Wilson, referring to different producers and record labels "operating at the fringes of the fringes" such as Laurel Halo and labels including L.I.E.S., Opal Tapes, Future Times, 1080p, and Lobster Theremin. Outsider house is also closely related to technoise, a fusion of techno and noise music

Lo-fi (originally typeset as low-fi [from the term "low fidelity"] and alternately called DIY [from "do it yourself"]) is an aesthetic of recorded music in which the sound quality is lower than the usual contemporary standards, or which highlights imperfections of the recording for artistic effect.

These standards have evolved throughout history, meaning that some older examples of lo-fi may not have been originally recognized as such.
